Paula Lange

What can you expect?

Well, first of all, I have to say… I am not everyone’s cup of tea. And that is okay.

As therapists, we know we can’t be the right fit for every client.

It’s important for us to determine if I’m the right fit you.

I’m a different kind of therapist.

If you’re looking for a traditional therapist who will assess what’s wrong with you, spend loads of time processing why the wrong happened, then explain what needs to change by educating you about better ways to live your life, and teach you a myriad of coping skills that may or may not work, then I will likely not be your beverage of choice.

Who starts their bio page off like that?

Well, that’s me: a little quirky, honest, straightforward, and very interested in finding the right therapist for you.

It might be helpful for you to know a little about me so you can better understand the therapy style I’ve adopted.

I’m the kind of person who doesn’t want to be told what to do.

I want to be challenged to think for myself and dig deep to find my own unique solutions that fit with my way of being in this world.

What I want from others is for them to believe in me and my ability to get to where I need to be with some listening, some thought-provoking questions, and some space for me to think.

Because this is what I want, it’s no surprise to me that I chose solution-focused brief therapy as my way of doing this job that I absolutely love.

I’m honored daily to walk alongside amazing people who just need a little support to get back to living life the way they want.

What do you want out of therapy?

So, if you’re looking for someone who will, from the first moment of your session, explore what your hopes from our work together are, ask you thoughtful questions along the way to help you to create the life where those hopes can exist, listen not for what is wrong with you but what is right with you, and provide you with a non-judgmental, comfortable, safe thinking space so you can move toward your best self, then you’ve likely found the right therapist for you.

I’d like to welcome you to my all virtual, boutique style counseling practice where you can now meet with me conveniently from any corner of Ohio or Florida.

On a personal note…

I’m a bit of a nerd. I LOVE learning and have been fortunate to have had opportunities to travel the world (London, South Africa, Halifax) in order to study with some of the best minds in our field like Elliott Connie, Evan George and Chris Iveson.

I have worked on a research project with my colleagues Dr. Adam Froerer and Cecil Walker where we are looked closely at the use of language, specifically presuppositions in SFBT sessions.

I have presented with my colleague and author Rebekka Ouer at our local NASW conference as well as with my fellow researches at the Solution Focused University Conference.

I have led regular peer support calls with my fellow SF colleagues and supervised clinicians in the use of SFBT.

And when I am not being a professional nerd, I LOVE: riding roller coasters (Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point is my all-time favorite), playing strategic board games like Everdell and Transforming Mars, kayaking, hiking (Iceberg Lake in Glacier National Park is my favorite destination thus far), collecting National Park Coasters, and grape flavored laffy taffy!
